Marrying adjacent philosophies of prominent Spanish creatives Cristobel Balenciaga and Francis Goya, the look explores the duty of the artist to respond to his/her political environment. Goya, known for his harrowing war series of woodcut prints, merges with Balenciaga’s luxury couture.

Considering what Balenciaga were to have made, if he were to respond to the 1930’s Spanish Civil War, this work questions art as activism versus art as escapism.
